SURRENDER TO YOUR BODY: TREAT IT LIKE A LOVER
Be a good animal, true to your animal instinct.
—D. H. LAWRENCE
How you inhabit your body shapes who you are during sex. The secret to feeling pleasure is to intimately connect with your body as you would with a lover, not just during sex but when walking, sitting, working, or even doing chores and mundane tasks. Try enjoying your sensuality as much as possible. You’ll see how your body is responsive, a giving source of bliss. Sure, you can have purely physical sex with an orgasm—and it can be loving—but, as good as this may feel, it won’t compare with the physical, emotional, and spiritual surrender during sex that I’ll describe. The body gives pleasure when you know its likes and dislikes, and how it’s made.
Problem is, we’re conditioned to huddle in our brains, which won’t increase bliss. Too many rules, too much regimentation prevents surrender. We’re programmed to be overly proper and in control at all times, not earthy and free. We don’t stroke or massage our bodies enough. We don’t move. Don’t stretch. Don’t cry. Don’t blush. We even get embarrassed when our stomachs rumble. We don’t extend our arms out and twirl just because we feel like it, or spontaneously kneel in reverence. We’re taught to criticize our “flaws,” not revel in our lusciousness. As a result, we may feel so tight and constricted that it begins to hurt. Or we become so ashamed of our bodies that we avoid mirrors and don’t want a lover to see our nakedness. This is the opposite of surrender. Don’t worry if this describes you. Life can be so much more! Let me reorient your perspective so that you can surrender to the sensual miracle of your body.
